Agenda for Change welcomes new Global Coordinator 2560 1924 Agenda for Change

Welcome to our incoming Global Coordinator, Bethlehem Mengistu

To my fellow members and colleagues,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome our incoming Global Coordinator, Bethlehem Mengistu, to lead the Agenda for Change collaboration forward in implementing our renewed vision for 2030. Bethlehem will commence her role starting October 4th and is based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Bethlehem embodies our mission: she is a long-time global WASH advocate with a passion for building collaboration, partnerships, and systems approaches that will collectively enable the achievement of SDG 6. She comes to Agenda for Change with more than 17 years of experience in the development sector and deep knowledge of African policy, spanning the areas of WASH, nutrition, gender equality, and education. Through previous roles with WaterAid, Bethlehem has been involved in Agenda for Change since the collaboration was founded.

Further, Bethlehem is an accomplished leader with expertise in strategic planning, development policy, and advocacy. Throughout her career, she has provided technical advice to governments, development partners, and technical teams and held multiple leadership roles where she advanced programmatic impact and influence in Ethiopia, and more widely in East Africa and parts of the Asia region.

On behalf of the Agenda for Change collaboration, we are looking forward to working with Bethlehem in her new role and I know she is equally excited for the opportunity to drive forward progress, alongside our members and partners, to advance our collective ambition to deliver sustainable WASH services to everyone, everywhere by 2030.

“I am looking forward to working with colleagues across the globe who believe that realizing sustainable access to WASH requires more than our unilateral efforts, but a collective global movement that challenges what’s not working and champions approaches to accelerate SDG 6,” says Bethlehem.

Please join us in welcoming Bethlehem to the Agenda for Change collaboration!

Sincerely,

Nick Burn
Chair, Agenda for Change General Assembly
