Growing with Purpose: Catherine’s Mentorship Journey
Joining the Rural Water Supply Network & Women in WASH Mentorship Programme has been one of the most transformative experiences of my career. While I expected to gain technical knowledge, I didn’t anticipate how much I would grow personally, spiritually, and professionally.
Over the past months, I had the privilege of being mentored by Ms. Marie Christine Faye, a passionate leader whose wisdom and warmth have deeply shaped my journey. Together, we explored the intersections between WASH, climate change, and community development—and also something deeper: the strength of women living out their faith and values in the professional world.
Our sessions went far beyond technical discussions. We spoke about the realities of rural sanitation and water supply, the urgency of climate resilience, and the power of community-based solutions. We also shared personal reflections as Christian professionals, reminding me that leadership is not only about knowledge—it’s about character, humility, and service.
“This mentorship has sharpened my understanding of WASH within the context of climate change, giving me practical tools to design projects with both sensitivity and innovation. More importantly, it has inspired me to lead with courage as a woman in a sector that still needs more female voices.”
As I move forward, I carry a renewed sense of purpose: to champion safe water access for all, to integrate climate resilience into every project, and to mentor other young women, just as I have been mentored.
I am deeply grateful to Ms. Marie Christine Faye and the entire mentorship team for creating a space where women can learn, grow, and inspire change. This experience reminded me that mentorship is more than a program—it’s about building inclusive water solutions, upholding dignity, and fostering hope.
